Solent Wildlife Tours is run by a group of long time birding friends who have vast wildlife experience of their home county of Hampshire. They have over 100 years of combined knowledge of the County’s Birds and their habits and habitats. They are well known and respected on the Hampshire birding scene and their tours conducted in the most friendly and informative manner, why not come along and savour the sights of this wildlife rich area. Hampshire is richly endowed with habitats that are increasingly scarce in the lowlands of Britain and Western Europe. The north of the county is predominantly chalk with important areas of grassland. The chalk plateau is drained by the main river valleys of the Avon, Test, Itchen and Meon and the purest chalk streams in the world. The New Forest National Park with its ancient woodland and largest heathland in Europe, meets the sea to the south. The stretch of water separating the mainland from the Isle of Wight is known as the Solent, with its unspoilt estuaries, beaches and reed fen. Factor in a mild climate and close proximity to the continent, all making Hampshire one of the top Birdwatching counties in Britain and probably the best for Reptiles, Butterflies and Moths. Whatever your interest in wildlife, be it a complete novice, or a lifetime birder, we believe we will reward you with sights to remember! |
